Osteopathic Physicians

On behalf of the Louisiana Osteopathic Medical Association, I want to introduce you to the new and improved Louisiana Osteopathic Medical Association.

LOMA is moving into the new century under new leadership, new excitement and new projects that will benefit the osteopathic family. Our new efforts and member benefits include:

  • Quarterly newsletter that will be sent to all of the DOs in the state of Louisiana.
  • LOMA web site
  • Creating a family practice chapter for osteopathic physicians.
  • Affinity programs such as reduced rate for office supplies, special credit card packages, etc.
  • CME conferences located in Louisiana with specific focus on osteopathic physicians including workshops in OMT.
  • Increased partnership/support with the AOA concerning specific projects such as the AOA Public Relations Grant.

You may contact the Louisiana Osteopathic Medical Association office, if you have suggestions for new programs or ways to improve existing programs at 601-366-3105. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Joel Glen Eldridge, D.O.
President

Osteopathic Medicine Achieves Parity in Louisiana

The osteopathic profession achieved a critical victory in Louisiana when a rule change by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (LSBME) established parity between the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX-USA) and the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE), and between the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) certifying boards and the boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS).
